East Falmouth Village Association Community Garden

Location: 505 East Falmouth Highway, East Falmouth MA 02536
Applicant: East Falmouth Village Association
Allocation: $1,400
Year/Article: April 2006, A35

The East Falmouth Village Association applied for and received from the CPFund $1,400 for two wooden benches in a small community garden next to the East Falmouth Fire Station at 505 East Falmouth Highway. Built to commemorate East Falmouth’s early history, the garden features a large center stone resembling a strawberry surrounded by grasses and strawberry vines. Hundreds of East Falmouth families got their start in this country as small-scale strawberry farmers, and East Falmouth was a nationally known producer of strawberries. St. Anthony’s Catholic Church is still known as “the church that strawberries built.” The stone and plantings were donated and the Association used the expertise and labor of members to bring the $4000 project to fruition.
