The original hardwood floors in the foyer and ballroom of Highfield Hall were installed in 1949. Over the years, the flooring had deteriorated to the point where holes existed in the surface, cracks were evident, and due to repeated maintenance and sanding, the wood was too thin for resurfacing. The project consisted of removal of the existing hardwood floors in the foyer and ballroom, including the perimeter flooring, and the installation and finishing with similar white oak flooring. The project complies with The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The project was completed in early 2019.
