Shiverick’s Pond Recreational Trail

Location: Intersection of Katharine Lee Bates Road and Post Office Road
Applicant: Planning Department/Conservation Commission
Allocation: $310,000
Year/Article: April 2020, A43

The purpose of this project is to develop an area in the parcel acquired by The 300 Committee in the southwest corner of Shiverick’s Pond and create a small park, install a viewing/fishing platform with an attached small boat launching platform over the pond, and prune some of the trees and undergrowth blocking views of the pond from Katharine Lee Bates Road. Work will include preparing surveys, permits, design, and construction for a walkway from the existing trail to the platform, as well as provide kayak and sampling access in the southwest corner of the pond. Replacing the existing unsafe viewing platform is part of this project’s goal. ADA accessibility from the sidewalk to the new walkway is also planned.
